About Me

My name is Christian Schömberg, and I am a member of the Cottbus city council. Born in Cottbus, I returned to my hometown to study after living in East Germany, Saarbrücken, and Berlin.

Since 2010, I have worked as an architect, focusing daily on the design of spaces, both physical and interpersonal. Since 2019, I have been self-employed and actively engaged in the local branch of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Cottbus. My diverse life experiences have given me a deep understanding of different cultural perspectives.

As the faction leader of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen/SUB, I see my role as “Primus inter Pares” – first among equals – and I aim to coordinate the work of the faction and be available as a point of contact. My main focus is on forward-looking, climate-friendly, and resilient urban development. I am committed to a vibrant democracy that includes all people of Cottbus. My goal is to strengthen the sense of community in our city and provide opportunities for everyone to grow and contribute. I stand for a positive welcoming culture that promotes integration and harnesses the potential this brings for our community.
